What a year. I have no words beyond that, but if you are reading this and shopping for teacher gift ideas , then bless you. We need all the love, feels, and festive-vibes we can get right now!
I pride myself in my brainstorming skills and thoroughly enjoy putting teacher gift ideas together each year (See more here: Teacher By Type Gift Guide, Gift Guide for English Teachers). This year has been extra cathartic browsing the web for creative and cute teacher gift ideas by talented Black makers.
I will link my top picks as well as helpful sources to inspire your entire shopping list for years to come!
While this list does contain affiliate links (at no loss to the maker!), I will be donating all of the kick back from this post to First Book which aims to remove barriers to quality education for all kids by making high-quality books and educational resources available to kids in need.
So let’s hop right in and go teacher gift shopping!
- Rear View Mirror Charm, Essential Oil Car Diffuser – Whether leaving work after a grueling day of teaching both live and virtual students or escaping to their car for a moment of separation from the blurred lines of home and work, this adorable Boho car diffuser will spark joy in an educator’s daily routine! Shop Owner Ciara Jones makes these charms in a variety of colors, each one cuter than the next! Pair this with a bottle of essential oil like “Happy Teacher” and check off your list!
2. Composition Book Mask– Well here it is, the unlikely hot item of 2020–a mask. I personally resisted buying pretty face coverings for far too long because I was in denial. However, my attitude greatly improved once I stocked up on cute teacher masks. I mean just look at this old school composition mask! It’s even personalized! Shout out to the people like designer Doney Wortham for making this moment in history a little more joyful!
3. Book Smart Art- The incredibly talented artist, Karina Daniel Parris, created a line of Book Smart art, and I want them all! She also has several other themes in her store including my favorites Cappuccino with Friends and Holiday Shades of Legs (Set of 5 cards). Take a look and have fun browsing her very reasonable print shop!
4. Shades of Color– I was lucky enough to snag one of these adorable mugs by Sunny and Ted, but at the time of writing this, they have sold out (CONGRATULATIONS!). However, I wanted to keep them on the list in case they restock. The reason these mugs are so special and would make the perfect teacher gift is the why behind them. After searching and failing to find a Santa mug that she saw herself in, owner Jasmine decided she would MAKE A LINE HER OWN DANG SELF. Got to love it when heart and art collide! As for another teacher gift that reflects this same message, here are some ideas: Skin Tone Colored Pencils with a lovely box paired with the Dedicated Teacher Even From A Distance coloring book.
5. Ignite Your Peace Candle– If all other school years have the message of “ignite your passion,” then this year deserves to “ignite your peace.” With so many factors out of our control, so many tech issues popping up, and so many conflicting voices from the community ringing in our ears, it’s a year to let go and let be. In the words of maker Kierra Bussey, SAGE THAT ISH. Her stylish candles come with affirmations that all teachers can use right now like, Breathe Queen, Ignite Peace, more.
6. InBooze Apple Pie – Forget the apple for your teacher and instead go for something a little more suited for 2020 – Apple Pie Booze Infusion. Business owner Ashleigh is the creative force behind this brilliant product and her reviews tell it all! While she has several flavors in her store, you just can’t beat the tongue-in-cheek Apple Pie Infusion for a fitting teacher gift. 🙂
